“Texans Should Have Their Taxes Work for Them!”
Shehla Faizi is running to be a different type of Comptroller – one who answers to the people, not party bosses or big donors.
Donors with business with the Comptroller’s office have already started pouring money into Shehla’s opponents. (Source: https://www.texastribune.org/2025/12/24/texas-comptroller-gop-primary-fundraising-2026/)
The comptroller’s office can and should restore trust and accountability by serving the people, not donors.
Don’t you want to know where your tax money is going?
Issues
Shehla’s Pledges:
Tax dollar accountability by creating tax spending transparency.
If it doesn’t create benefits for Texans, the people should know about it!
Shehla promises to bring clarity and accountability to state tax spending for:
Foreign bonds with taxpayer dollars
Wasteful Corporate Tax Breaks
School vouchers & state contracts
Funding Texas Sheriffs to assist ICE
Why I’m Running
After seeing both Democrats and Republicans sell out to donors and foreign lobbyists, I’ve had it with politics as usual.
Let’s put Texas first, not big donors, and not foreign countries.
As your comptroller, I will bring transparency and accountability to the Comptroller’s Office, building a better Texas for all.

About Shehla
I'm a Muslim American of Pakistani background. Born in America, I was raised in Karachi, Pakistan. After completing my Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, and establishing a career in advertising and marketing journalism, I moved to the U.S. in 2007 after marriage.
I moved to Texas in 2012, to create roots for my two children. But that dream was shaken in 2016. After President Trump was first elected, my family noticed a rising tide of racist rhetoric in Texas. Not one to give in to fear, I decided to no longer be a bystander in the U.S. socio-political landscape. I had to do more to safeguard the rights of my two children and millions of other children who were increasingly viewed as "others."
The beginning of the genocide in Gaza, in 2023, added major urgency for me to do more for minorities and marginalized communities in Texas and across the U.S.
