About Me

I'm a Muslim American of Pakistani background. Born in America, I was raised in Karachi, Pakistan. After completing my Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, and establishing a career in advertising and marketing journalism, I moved to the U.S. in 2007 after marriage.

I moved to Texas in 2012, to create roots for my two children. But that dream was shaken in 2016. After President Trump was first elected, my family noticed a rising tide of racist rhetoric in Texas. Not one to give in to fear, I decided to no longer be a bystander in the U.S. socio-political landscape. I had to do more to safeguard the rights of my two children and millions of other children who were increasingly viewed as "others."

The beginning of the genocide in Gaza, in 2023, added major urgency for me to do more for minorities and marginalized communities in Texas and across the U.S. In 2024 I became involved in the Stein/Ware Presidential campaign, as a volunteer for the Green Party. The two-party system has failed Americans. Even if the Green party is a long shot, it is the only one I could politically align with.

By the end of 2025, with conditions getting desperate for more and more Texans, it became clear to me that the only way I could make a real difference was to change the political system from the inside. I made the decision to run for office as a candidate for Texas State Comptroller, under the Green Party banner.

Money is THE key asset in policy making, which is why the position of Comptroller is so important. From 2023 onwards we have seen in full view how our tax dollars are being used for foreign interests and mismanaged by the state government to benefit billionaires and big corporations, while everyday people suffer through decreased funding for state services and increased cost of living, while wages remain stagnant.

As Texas State Comptroller, I will ensure that Texas taxes are only for the people of Texas! Not for propping up foreign entities, not for tax breaks for big corporations, but for Texans. Living abroad, I have seen the negative impacts of an increasing wealth gap, underfunded state services and uncontrolled government thuggery and us hard-working Texans deserve better!

I want to bring checks and balances back to the Texas Comptroller’s office. Texas taxes should serve Texans first and foremost. We the people should no longer be viewed as an after-thought when it comes to our well-being and prosperity.
